Pico’s ingenuity was in high demand at the Cambodia Pavilion at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. The ‘Kingdom of Wonder’ theme challenged our teams to emphasise the faith, harmony and heritage of Cambodia by highlighting different aspects of the country’s three major cities: Siem Reap, Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh.

Through depictions of the royal majesty and ancient history of Angkor Wat, the life-giving waterfall and new deep water port at Sihanoukville, and the bustling cultural kaleidoscope of Phnom Penh; the pavilion highlighted the Cambodia’s deep connection to the ocean and its many hidden treasures.

With careful attention to detail and the use of different materials and techniques, our teams activated this complex brief and gave visitors deep insights into the many wonders of Cambodia.

With over 100 countries participating and eight million visitors expected, Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea showcased a wide range of perspectives on the diversity of mankind’s connection with the sea under the theme ‘The Living Ocean and Coast’. In addition to the Cambodia Pavilion, Pico’s professional expertise was also called upon to create ten other themed and country pavilions.

Including our work at Yeosu in 2012, Pico has built up an impressive portfolio of World Expo work, creating more than 70 Expo pavilions since the 1980s.
