Lights out at Pico offices for Earth Hour

Though global circumstances are different this year due to the pandemic, we can still make a positive impact on the environment — from our homes and even online.

For one hour, starting at 8:30pm (local time) on 27 March 2021, Pico is mobilising offices and subsidiaries in 36 cities around the globe to switch off their non-essential lights and electric-powered equipment to add their voices to Earth Hour, one of the world’s largest grassroots environmental events.

As well as taking part in the ‘switch off’ event, Pico is encouraging more people and businesses to participate, by spreading the ‘#Connect2Earth’ Earth Hour campaign hashtag on social media, and by providing special e-cards for staff to send to their clients and friends.

Earth Hour is about much more than saving energy; it is meant to raise awareness of and begin serious conversations about the state of our planet and its future – and especially the worsening effects of climate change and the loss of biodiversity.

Pico has been a keen supporter of Earth Hour for several years under Pico Global Care in Action, its corporate social responsibility initiative. For our staff, Earth Hour is a timely annual reminder of the need to use resources responsibly and a demonstration of how businesses can grow in a sustainable way.

Organized by the World Wildlife Fund, the first Earth Hour was held in 2007. Today, millions of people and organizations from more than 180 countries and territories take part around the globe.
